OF WERERABBITS AND MEN - An Introduction to Wererabbit, Attack!

This is our preliminary post, so don't expect anything too special or super-hilarious. But, I thought it important to describe what Wererabbit, Attack! is, and where me and my esteemed colleague want to take it.

In short, we're a creative studio, combining the talents of two artsy best friends, looking for a place to legitimize our creative works. I'm Peter Vaughn, and I'm a game designer/writer, currently attending school at Full Sail University. My partner in crime is Kent Brickles, an artist and screen writer who graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design.

We've been friends for about 10 years, first coming from being in a (really terrible) band together in high school, to working on a graphic novel (which was scrapped), to just hanging out as friends then going back again to creative collaborators. It wasn't until about several months ago that we decided to officially pool our resources and individual projects together and start "working" together. It's kind of hard to describe what it is we do...but I suppose the best description would be that we have our respective fields that we work in, and when we need support and good ideas we suck the other guy's brain dry.

Right now, we're starting out small. I'm still in school, working on building my portfolio and game design/programming/writing skills, while Kent draws and writes so much it's hard to call it anything but a full-time gig. I'm working on a number of game design projects, and also building my knowledge about various technologies and languages. Kent is helping with those designs, doing character/monster designs, and also working on his indie film screenplay and comic book series.

Kent is insufferable horror movie buff, and honestly, survival horror is one my favorite genres of games. Many of the projects we work on revolve around horror, but certainly not all. We love every thing that is nerdy...nothing can really escape our dirty little minds. Actually, one of my main game projects right now involved a talking rabbit version of Han Solo fighting other, evil talking animals, and also zombies of talking animals! Not very horrific...but somehow the influence crept in there, as hard as I tried. Kent's current screenplay is actually a new take on the modern "found footage" film, documenting the tortured life of a young man believing himself to be a werewolf...now that, folks, is definitely horror. But not in the "take an old idea, remake it and make millions I'm Michael Bay" horror, new horror. Different horror. And in the end, all we want to do is something fresh and fun and different...and have a great time doing it.

The more we work together, the further we hope to take Wererabbit, Attack! and create not only a web presence, but also an industry presence as an inseparable writing and design team. But, that's in the future...and little more than our big aspiration for where we want our creative lives to take us. Right now, we're going to keep plugging away, learning constantly and creating even more.

This blog will be our starting point - a place to post designs, lots of pictures, our thoughts, status updates, that sort of thing. Only time will tell to see if anybody truly cares, but that's not really the point! The point is to have fun, do what we love, and do it together. We'll just have to wait and see what shape Wererabbit, Attack! will take in the future...for now, it's a junky blog run by two super nerds.

But enough talk...Have at you!
